Installation - mahjerion/Craft-to-Exile-2 GitHub Wiki

For any launcher you will need a valid Minecraft account. No support for cracked launchers.

Note: Some of these installation methods require you to install Java 17 on your own.

Java Arguments & RAM

Use these Java arguments to get better performance/garbage collector efficiency. Replace the already existing Java arguments if you have any:

-XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UnlockDiagnosticVMOptions -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseNUMA -XX:NmethodSweepActivity=1 -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=400M -XX:NonNMethodCodeHeapSize=12M -XX:ProfiledCodeHeapSize=194M -XX:NonProfiledCodeHeapSize=194M -XX:-DontCompileHugeMethods -XX:MaxNodeLimit=240000 -XX:NodeLimitFudgeFactor=8000 -XX:+UseVectorCmov -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:+UseFastUnorderedTimeStamps -XX:+UseCriticalJavaThreadPriority -XX:ThreadPriorityPolicy=1 -XX:AllocatePrefetchStyle=3 -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=37 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M -XX:G1NewSizePercent=23 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=3 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=20 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=10 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=0 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -XX:G1SATBBufferEnqueueingThresholdPercent=30 -XX:G1ConcMarkStepDurationMillis=5.0 -XX:G1ConcRSHotCardLimit=16 -XX:G1ConcRefinementServiceIntervalMillis=150 -XX:GCTimeRatio=99 -XX:+UseLargePages -XX:LargePageSizeInBytes=2m

We recommend allocating 4-8 GB of RAM. If you're noticing any performance issues, up your RAM to 8 GB and ensure you're using the Java arguments above.

Note: Be mindful not to allocate too much RAM, especially in systems with only 8 GB available.

Installing with CurseForge

  1. Download and install CurseForge.
  2. Upon starting CurseForge, you will see a number of games. Click 'Minecraft'.
  3. Choose where you want to save your instances and press 'Continue'.
  4. 'Browse Modpacks' and search "Craft to Exile". You will see the Craft to Exile modpacks. Press 'Install' for whichever version you prefer.
  5. You can now go back to 'My Modpacks' to view the packs you have installed. This is also where you will be launching the game from.
  6. Press 'Play' to launch the game!
  7. The first time you launch the modpack, CurseForge will install all the necessary components for you, then will ask you to log into your Minecraft account.

Installing with Prism Launcher

  1. Download and install Prism Launcher.
  2. Open Prism Launcher. On first launch it will ask you to allocate RAM and choose your desired Java installation. Make sure your chosen Java installation is Java 17. For RAM, we recommend anywhere between 4-8 GB (In megabytes that's 4096-8192 MB).
  3. Click 'Add Instance' in the top left, then go to the 'CurseForge' tab in the left column and search for "Craft to Exile 2". (Note: Craft to Exile 2 may not be the top search result, usually its in the top 3. Make sure you don't accidentally install a different modpack.) Click on 'Craft to Exile 2' once you find it and then click the 'OK' button.
  4. When the 'Blocked mods found' window opens, click the 'Open Missing' button to download the remaining mods. Save all of them to your computer's 'Downloads' folder. Prism monitors this folder for the missing mods so it's important that you save them here specifically.
  5. Once all missing mods are saved to your computer's 'Downloads' folder, the window should update to say "All mods found" in the bottom left. If it still says "Please download the missing mods.", double check to make sure all of the mods were downloaded to the correct folder. Once it says "All mods found", all that's left to do is click 'OK'!
  6. Launch the game! If this is your first time using Prism you may be prompted to log in to your Minecraft account.

Installing with ATLauncher

  1. Download and install ATLauncher.
  2. When opening the launcher, login to your Minecraft account at the bottom of the window.
  3. Click "Packs" on the left side, click CurseForge on the right side, search for Craft to Exile, and click download.
  4. Near the end of the installation, you will be prompted to open a few mod links. This is due to CurseForge 3rd party policies. Just click open link on each mod and ATLauncher will grab the .jars from the downloads folder.
  5. Once installed, click Settings on the left side, go to Java/Minecraft, and set your RAM and Java args.

Installing with GDLauncher

  1. Download and install GDLauncher.
  2. Upon starting the launcher, you will be asked to log into your Minecraft account. GDLauncher also ensures that you have the correct version of Java and allocates an appropriate (4-8 GB) amount of RAM by default.
  3. Click the '+' button in the bottom left to add a new instance.
  4. Click 'Twitch' at the top of the window and search for Craft to Exile.
  5. Download the latest version. GDLauncher will automatically set everything up for you.
  6. After that, just click on the pack and you're ready to play!
