Installing Diablo 2 - maelstrm30/d2bot-with-kolbot GitHub Wiki
This will be a base article for referral that other topics will relate back to as part of their install.
Currently Diablo 2 is running version 1.14d.
If you do not have media (cd or digital download) you can retrieve the files from Battle.net. 1) Log in to Battle.net 2) After logging in, upper right hand corner, click on your account and go to Account Settings. 3) If you have registered your keys, you can click on Diablo II or Lord of Destruction (or both successively) and click on the Download Game Client. Classic Game Client Download
Note: You will not be able to access this area until you log into Battle.net first.
This will download a 2.64 MB Blizzard Downloader file for classic Diablo 2 (the Lord of Destruction download is 2.56 MB). These will begin the download of the Diablo II game (and Lord of Destruction add-on if you continue).
Note Diablo II : Lord of Destruction (the combined Diablo 2 {what we call classic D2} and the LOD or Lord of Destruction add-on) is 1.98 GB and could take some time to download.
Once downloaded you will have a folder with Installer.exe. Double click on this to begin the install. You will first be presented with a EULA (End User License Agreement) screen. You must read this (or scroll down to the bottom).
Afterwards, you will have a screen that asks you to type a name and input your cd key. This name will be what comes up if someone else tries to run Diablo 2 with your cdkey. You can copy and paste your key (instead of typing it in 1 character at a time). Next you will be able to choose where to install Diablo 2. The default is either c:\Program Files\Diablo II or c:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II depending on whether or not you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.
Once Diablo II is installed, now you can install the LOD add-on.
Run the LOD Installer.exe. Again, you will have a screen that asks you to type a name and input your cd key. This name can be different than your Diablo 2 name but doesnt have to be different. You can copy and paste your key (instead of typing it in 1 character at a time). The Lord of Destruction add-on will be installed into the same folder as your Diablo 2 folder.
Once the install has finished you will have a shortcut on your desktop. This will start Diablo 2 (or Diablo 2 : Lod) but it starts in 'full screen' mode. To fix this right click and go to properties on the shortcut. Look for the top line Target. Go to the very end of the path hit your space bar and add -w.
Here is an example
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w
