Working ATVs for MAD - madBeavis/PimpMyAtv GitHub Wiki
Foreward
The following is a best faith effort to keep track of ATVs that work with either 32 or 64 bit version of MADrom. This list does not absolve you of doing your homework in Discord. The landscape has changed drastically since the start of the 2020. If there is an ATV that you know works or not, let me know by private message or tag in discord.
For any atv to be used with MAD, 2gb of ram is the minimum. Do not buy the 1gb version of x96 mini or a95x f1 and expect it to run well, if at all.
As long as it runs, boxes with the same chip will perform in a manner that is indistinguishable from another box that has the same chip. For example, we started with the tx9s 2/8 s912. Another found some 3/16 s912 that worked. I found another 3/16 that works well. Then I found the ihomelife s912 2/8, which is a tx9s clone. Moral of the story is to do some research, buy one box and test it. I would propose a variant of the "he who smelt it, dealt it" principle: if you are willing to ask about one potentially working, you should be willing to try it.
Regarding use in Atlas
MADrom is designed to provide an easy solution to flashing and setting up ATVs with MAD. That being said, MADrom has some very specific requirements and works on a limited selection of hardware. Being good mappers, we procured most of the useable stock of the below ATVs. For Atlas, one can perhaps find some NOS (new old stock) of the below working ATVs or you will have to venture out on your own to root an ATV with Magisk and then get Atlas running on it.
Known working for MAD
- x96 mini+
- confirmed working for madrom july 2022.
- s905w4 is just a rebranded s905w, might even be slower
- unknown but hopefully free from the versioning issues with original x96 mini
- Ihomelife HLQ Max
- appears to be a tx9s clone, only tested on 64bit madrom by myself.
- i am currently running 30+ of them, they work fine.
- some have had problems flashing, but it is likely too long of cable and/or user error
- limited supply, so order now! you can find them on alibaba.
- tx3 mini
- x96 mini
- Please see its own page. Only specific versions work.
- s905w 2/16gb
- works on 32 and 64 bit
- a95x f1
- s905w 2/16gb
- no known versions that are incompatible with MAD
- works on 32 and 64 bit
- has mac address issues, i.e. all have the same one. search for 'unifykeys' in discord or figure out how to do it through MAD.
- s10 mini
- essentially an a95x f1 in a different shell
- may be subject to the mac address issues of a95x f1
- W95 s905w
- likely discontinued
- reported as working by TiMXL73 on discord for 64 bit version of rom
- tx9s
- s912 2/8gb
- works on 32 and 64 bit
- u2c turbo x/z and r box pro
- s912 3/16gb
- a couple of us have run these in 32 and 64 bit
- rbox does not work with autoconfig, so manual setup on 32 or 64 bit
- impossible to find for both
- X96 Max 4g/32gb s905x2
- See pinned post in #ATV to download this file https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/590787129458688000/592783327996674068/howto_install_X96_MAX.pdf
- a95x r2
- verified as working by SkOODat
Not working / partially working MAD
- tx3 mini
- there are currently 2 versions that don't work, as of 2021-11-01
- s912 version appeared to work on 32bit for myself, but did not run well with 64bit
- apparently an allwinner h313 version discord
- there are currently 2 versions that don't work, as of 2021-11-01
- w95
- s905w 2/16gb
- only confirmed to be working on 32bit here
- could someone please try 64bit and let me know so i may update this information
- T95
- a couple of folks have not had success with this box
Exploring new boxes
- 32bit version of MADrom has a better chance at working on random boxes as the drivers are more generic than 64 bit
- success has only been had with ATVs that have AmLogic CPUs
- no one has had luck with allwinner or rockchip based ATV. there are custom roms, but some of the forums tend to be in russian, which is hard to translate on websites. hopefully someone gets lucky, as these boxes are cheaper than amlogic based ones and actually available.
- if you want to try another ATV, here are some things to note:
- start by googling
atvname custom rom
. if no results show success, probably best to just avoid the box - freaktab.com was a good place to begin, but it has close 2021-12-31.
- do know you have to pass safetynet, there are some magisk modules that can help, but would consider them untested for our purpose unless someone experience with MAD & ATVs reports back
- most custom roms are 32bit, which is only as good as people with shit phones complain more than niantic wants folks to move over to 64bit
- 32bit madrom is based off ATV Experience
- start by googling
- the 64bit roms came from khadas.com to start. the s905d3 variant has not been explored, could work since it is a s905y3 variant.
- building custom roms is not for the faint of heart, but there are guides on the internet on how to do such
- good luck has been had with s912 2/8 and 3/16gb versions, can't say there has been one that has failed to take 32bit madrom and most can do 64bit madrom. look for ones with android 7.1 version.
Purchasing Warnings
If you do purchase from the Chinese auction sites, do make sure you get what you want. For instance, I have found many ads for ihomelife, but upon closer inspection it is another atv, with the only evidence being the wrong specs for the ihomelife. They will also try to substitute items, which is fine for 99.9% of atv end users, but we require very specific machines, so do not accept substitutes.
