Options tab 3: Other - mIRC-scripts/dlFilter GitHub Wiki
The other tab contains all the options that relate to functions other than filtering:
- @find (/ @locator) windows
- dlFilter statistics
- Colouring server nicks
- Controlling users sending you files with DCC Send
- Private messages from users not in a common channel.
- Other security options
Extra functions
This section contains miscellaneous additional functions.
@find / @locator results
Without dlFilter, @find results end up spread amongst several query windows (and sometimes also the active window).
With dlFilter enabled but the Collect @find / @locator results into a single window
unchecked, the @find results should be displayed in common channels in the order they are received.
With both dlFilter and Collect @find / @locator results into a single window
enabled, the @find results are collected into a custom window, sorted by filename. (Note: If multiple servers are hosting the exact same filename, they will appear together, but in many cases the file names are slightly different and (currently at least) dlFilter is not clever enough to place them together.)
You can double click, or select one or more lines and right click, in order to send the trigger string to the appropriate channel.
dlFilter channel statistics
dlFilter maintains simple statistics for each channel you are filtering in order to display in the titlebar its filtering effectiveness for the channel. The effectiveness (obviously) depends on the filtering options you choose, but in many cases 99%+ is easily achievable.
Colour uncoloured file servers
This functionality tries to indicate which nicks in a channel are servers by colouring their sidebar entry with mIRC's Highlight colour (mIRC default Brown).
File requests
This section controls what happens when someone tries to send you a file.
Autoaccept
If you check this box, dlFilter tracks the requests you make for files and when a matching Send is started it accepts it automatically (by adding the user to the mIRC DCC Send trust list for a few seconds until the file has been accepted).
Block all files not explicitly requested
Does what it says on the can.
Block potentially dangerous filetypes
If this option is enabled, the following filetypes (obtained here) are blocked regardless of mIRC's Ignore / Accept list:
- Executables - application, com, cpl, exe, gadget, hta, pif, scr
- Installables - msi, msp, reg
- Scripts - bat, cmd, jar, js, jse, mrc, msc, msh, msh1, msh2, mshxml, msh1xml, msh2xml, ps1, ps1xml, ps2, ps2xml, psc1, psc2, vb, vbe, vbs, ws, wsc, wsf, wsh
- Shortcuts - inf, lnk, scf
- Macros - doc, docm, dotm, ppt, pptm, potm, ppam, ppsm, sldm, xlam, xls, xlsm, xltm
Block files from users not in a common channel
If you receive a file from a user not in a common channel, it is highly likely that this file is unexpected. This option allows you to block these users from sending you files.
Block files from users not in your trust list
This option is disabled by default. If you enable it, then you will need manually to add the nickname / mIRC address of every server you want to receive files from to you mIRC DCC Send trust list.
Block files from regular users
Many servers are ops, half-ops or voiced users in their channels. If this option is enabled, then files from these users will be accepted, whilst files from regular users (who are not trusted by the channel owners to be opped or voiced) are blocked. However, IF the fileserver you request files from is a regular user, you will need to clear this option in order to receive files from them.
Retry incomplete file requests
If for any reason your file transfer is interrupted, then this option will resend the trigger to the channel to get the server to retry the file send - an it will do this up to 3 times before giving up.
mIRC-wide
This group of options applies regardless of which channels you have set to filter.
Check mIRC settings are secure
This is a placeholder for future functionality.
Filter private spam
This option filters private messages containing spam keywords - typically URL links to pornography.
Filter private messages from users not in a private channel
The normal process for starting private chats is to speak in a channel first and then transfer to private chat.
So when you get a private message from a user not in a common channel, this is unusual, and if from a user you don't know then likely to be unwelcome.
If you set this option, then any if you want to receive private messages from users not in a common channel, add them to your mIRC Notify list.
Block channel ctcp requests unless from an op
This option blocks CTCP VERSION, FINGER, TIME and PING requests sent as channel messages (to every user in the channel) rather than to you as an individual user, unless they were sent by a channel op. Such messages are unusual and can be used by hackers to gain personal information about you that you may not wish to share.
Block IRC Finger requests
IRC Finger requests (CTCP FINGER) in particular share personal details that you may not wish to be shared. This option blocks such requests completely.
