The Cavern is a safe haven within the Crossroads. With the exception of skintepedes, the Fargone don’t generally dwell in the Cavern, but live in The Dark. The reasoning for this is simple; this is where The Departed first make their appearance in the Crossroads, after their mortal life ends. But so soon after death, and so far from the gate to The Great Beyond, The Departed are not especially vulnerable. Their souls are still strong, and though this makes them all the more desirable to Lost Souls, most Fargone prefer to strike when The Departed are vulnerable (in The Dark). For this reason, only the skintepedes are brazen – or desperate – enough to attack the Departed here.
