Different modes tracks can be in:

• Clip alternate mode ("normal")
• Layer mode -- each clip in the track can be independently active or paused.
• Overdub mode -- each row is a new overdub, so you can go back and forth in history?
• Pattern mode -- each beat automatically pick a different clip to sample, randomly or according to a pattern.
