Project Goals

  1. Create One EWU Website for EVERYTHING
  2. Get rid of Eaglenet
  3. Keep Canvas
  4. 1 Login for EVERYTHING

Define the User

  • The user of the EWU website will be either a student, faculty/advisor, or fan of EWU.
  • If they are a student, they will be relatively tech savvy, and the majority of the users will be between the ages of 18-25.
  • If the user is a faculty/advisor, they will be between the ages of 30-70. They will be relatively tech savvy.
  • If the user is a fan, they could be any age, and they could or could not be tech savvy.

Existing Challenges

  1. You have to login 1,0000 times (and with multiple different passwords)
  2. You have to click "student" 1,0000 times (I'm sure it's the same with "faculty" or "guest")
  3. There are too many platforms and it's confusing (i.e. EWU website, Eaglenet, Eagle Axis, Canvas, myEWU Portal etc)
  4. The website has way too many repetitive paths that makes it busy
  5. There is no importance in where things are placed on the current EWU page (Everything is hard to find)
  6. Instead of improving the EWU website, they added another one (myEWU Portal), which makes things even worse, and that's why I don't use it.
  7. Instead of making Portal, they should have applied those principles to the EWU website.

Define the User Flows

Homescreen (CHOOSE STUDENT, FACULTY, OR FAN) -> If student or faculty, LOGIN NOW ->

If Student, then -> Student Page (REGISTER FOR CLASSES / CANVAS / PAY MONEY / EMAIL / MY PROGRESS / CALENDAR / TIMESHEET / APPLY FOR JOBS / MAP / EAGLESYNC

  • REGISTER FOR CLASSES -> ADD/DROP CLASSES / MY SCHEDULE / VIEW HOLDS / COURSE CATALOG / FINAL GRADES / WITHDRAWL INFORMATION
  • CANVAS -> Takes you to Canvas (where you don't have to login again)
  • PAY MONEY -> PAY MY BILL / DIRECT DEPOSIT / DEPOSIT EAGLEFLEX / PAYMENT HISTORY / TAX FORMS / ACCOUNT SUMMARY BY TERM
  • EMAIL -> Takes you to your student email (where you don't have to login again)
  • MY PROGRESS -> SOAR AUDIT / ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT / MY INFO / APPLY TO GRADUATE / TAX INFORMATION
  • CALENDAR -> Takes you to Eastern's academic calendar with ALL campus events/programs included
  • TIMESHEET -> Takes you to your timesheet (if you're a student employee) where you can submit it
  • APPLY FOR JOBS -> Takes you to a list of available campus jobs that you can apply for
  • MAP -> CAMPUS MAP -> Map of Campus / CHENEY MAP -> Google Map view of Cheney
  • EAGLESYNC -> Takes you to Eaglesync (where you don't have to login again), and you can find out information about clubs/orgs, register an event, register your club, etc...

If Faculty, then -> Faculty Page (EMAIL / PAYROLL / CANVAS / RESOURCES / BUSINESS & ADMINISTRATION / SERVICES / I.T. / CAMPUS LIFE / RESEARCH & SCHOLARSHIP / CAMPUS SAFETY

If fan, then -> General Homepage -> ABOUT / MAPS / NEWS / SPORTS / CALENDAR / DINING / CONTACT / ADMISSIONS / ALUMNI / GIVE NOW
