I run nearly all my VR games via SteamVR where possible. SteamVR acts as a broker between the Quest and the game rather than directly from the game into the Quest OpenXR runtime. It provides a fallback so should my headset be turned off or disconnects, I can more-often-than-not, reconnect the headset and carry on where I left off without the need to restart the game. This is ideal should the headset need to be turned off during endurance races to save power and recharge when I'm not in the car.
