with the edit windows, it is easy to traverse up the tree by hitting "Edit Parent", but if you go to far, there is no easy way to go back. Also, you can go across to a different node by typing it in, but no quick "back" button to get to the previous window.
this is a request for a "back" key. I suppose, in the interest of being complete, we could resemble a browser window and have a back and a forward button, and disable/grey out buttons whenever there is no previous or forward window to go to.
in terms of history, i think just remember the last 10 nodes or so would be sufficient.
