Datasets - ljramones/trips GitHub Wiki
What are Datasets and why?
Trips data management starts with the idea of datasets. The program can store many datasets at the same time. For example, you could have a dataset with the stars marked with the polities for the cainverse, and another dataset with some fictional stars in it with the locations for Star Trek starbases and star systems visited in episodes. Both of those might be derived from the same 50 LY diameter data set that has no such annotations, and saved as different datasets after you've done editing to add custom data. Neat huh?
But FIRST you have to load SOME data into the system to edit. The program comes with several datasets to load. Some of them are derived from old CHVIEW data, and if you have your own old CHVIEW datasets, you can load them into TRIPS. Others are new, custom curated datasets derived from the latest astrographic data from the ESA's Gaia mission and other sources. Here's how you load one:
Some datasets are included in the program's download in the "files" folder. Other datasets can be found and downloaded from the available datsets
