Sandcrabs are tiny critters that hide in the sand on beaches. They can be hard to spot, but if you find tiny bits of sand breaking off from the ground, mine it and the Sandcrab will come out and reward you with some items.

Behavior

Hiding

Sandcrabs will remain silent and still in the ground until they are uncovered. Whilst hiding, block breaking particles will have a 15% chance of appearing 20 times a second. Breaking the block the Sandcrab is in will make the Sandcrab jump out of the sand with items.

Out of Sand

Sandcrabs technically have 40.0HP (20 hearts) but they'll actually perish after taking just 10.0HP of damage (5 hearts). They move at a slow speed along the ground and even slower in water. Sandcrabs float in water. Like any other mob, they can be placed in a boat or minecart.

Variants

Sandcrabs can be found in 5 different colors. These variants are purely visual, and wont change the loot the Sandcrab gives you. Below are the 5 variants:

Loot

Sandcrabs hand you items when finding their hiding spot. Common items that can be found are items like arrows, bones, coal, and iron ingots, but sometimes a Sandcrab may hand you a rare item, like a nautilus shell or enchanted tool.
