There are 3 layers to this document, and they should be pretty self-explanatory.
Layers (Top to Bottom)
- Logo
- Overlay (70% Opacity)
- Background
Guide:
- Find the background image you want to use, it must be high quality to look best. Try to find a source image of or as close to 1920x1080 that you can.
- If not 1080p, take image and scale to 1920x1080 with bilinear resampling. (Or Hard edged if pixel art.
- Crop image to 1080x1080 and paste on bottom layer.
- For the color layer, pick a color that is related to the system. But don't pick something too garish, like hot pink or neon colors, pick a more muted color that can be related with the system. (NES would be a more muted red.)
- The overlay layer should be set at 70% opacity so the background can be seen.
- If possible, use a vector image for the logo. You can render it at a high resolution and scale it down.
- Open vector image in image editor (Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.net, etc.)
- Edit logo to be all white (FFFFFF.) Cut out any areas that would ruin the image. (If the logo has an outline of one color, and the inside is a different color, delete the inside area and color the outside.)
- Scale logo down to a width of 800px.
- Cut and paste logo on uppermost layer and center in canvas.
- Export image at 600x600px as a JPG file. Bicubic sampling when exporting.
- Name file based on es_systems.cfg (Full Name, but in lowercase)
- Create PR to this repository with file added in the 'art' folder.
