Sandwiches are food items that were added in the Chef's Dream v1.3 update.

Sandwiches can be made through the preparation board. To start making a sandwich, first right click on a preparation board with a bread slice. Bread slices can be obtained by cutting bread on a preparation board. After the bread slice is placed, right click on the preparation board with up to seven ingredients. Once you are done putting ingredients on the sandwich, right click on it with another bread slice to get your sandwich. After making the sandwich, you can go back to using your preparation board as normal.

Note that unlike other recipes, you can usually add extra condiments to a sandwich without it becoming invalid. Currently, this mechanic works with ketchup and mustard.
