What is it?

This is a hardware/software project to interface Vertex Standard VX-1700 commercial radios with some existing antenna tuners I have around the house.

I'm planning on using it on an AT-130 (which is probably very similar to other ICOM units, e.g. the AT-120) and a Codan 9350.

What's the status?

We're still at proof of concept stage. There's a few things on the TODO list

So far I've done some research into the gear:

• VX-1700 inputs and outputs
• ICOM AT130 Control signals and voltages
• Codan 9350 signals and tuning sequence

Achievements:

• Made the AT-130 behave like a Codan 9350. Details here

The to-do list

Next on my to-do list:

• Design the interface to go between the VX-1700 and the 9350 (or AT-130 pretending to be a 9350)
  • Chose a topology - there are some design decisions that need to be made
  • Design schematic
  • Build a test system
  • Layout board
