Inspired by the mimosa pudica "shy plant" from the Philippines:

For my midterm I'm planning on taking a fake plant stem with 3-4 big leaves and laying it on a table, the stem coming out of a vase. Participants will be invited to touch the leaves, but there are actually FSR sensors embedded within them. If the FSR sensors read a change in value, it will be as if the participant was being too rough with the leaves, and a motor attached to the stem inside the vase will shake the stem back and forth. Through a speaker, Processing will then trigger sounds like growling, hissing or whimpering as if the plant is alive and vocal.

MATERIALS
fake stem + leaves, arduino board, laptop with processing, motor, 3-4 FSR sensors, vase, green tape

CALENDAR
2/22 - work on Arduino + Processing code
2/26 - purchase fake stem + leaves, modify object with FSR sensors
2/27 - begin soldering and taping wires to stem
3/6 - finished sculpture + code with last minute touch-ups
3/8 - presentation, documentation
