final project proposal - laudim/PC_Lau GitHub Wiki
CONCEPT: Serving as closure for my interactive plant exploration this semester, I wanted to create a home for my alien plants which participants can discover/intrude upon. With wire, cardboard and paper mache, I will construct this "womb" as two halves of a large hollow sphere with a head-sized hole on the bottom. Inside, sectioned sacs of translucent white cloth will contain writhing silhouettes of plants backed with LED string lights. The distance sensor positioned near the opening will sense a presence, and two small bluetooth speakers playing light atmospheric music will slowly play overlaying tracks of soft undistinguished whispering. Words like "intruder" will slowly add to the track as the LED string lights begin to flash to ward off the participant. This reimagined terrarium will be the cocoon-like home of mysterious beings who want to remain hidden. Challenges will include taming the distance sensor, using the motor to puppeteer slight plant movement, and affecting LED string lights with possibly a relay module(?).
