1.3 Verifying Your Installation - ladybug-tools/lbt-grasshopper GitHub Wiki

Verifying Your Installation

Once you have followed the installation instructions, you can verify that your installation is correct by opening Grasshopper and dragging/dropping the "HB Config" component onto the canvas. By connecting the outputs to panels, you can see where each of the simulation engines and resources have been installed:

HB Config

Note that, if you plan to run all of the different types of studies that Ladybug Tools offers, there shouldn't be any outputs of this component that are Null. However, if you are only using Ladybug Tools for daylight simulation you will not need EnergyPlus + OpenStudio and, if you are only using Ladybug Tools for energy simulation, you will not need Radiance.

Also note that, if you get an ImportError when dropping any of the components on the canvas, then Rhino has not been able to find the core libraries in the ladybug_tools/python folder and you should try repeating the last installation steps.

Checking Your Versions

After installation, you can check the versions of the engines that you have installed by dropping the "HB Check Versions" component onto the canvas and connecting the outputs to panels like so.

HB Check Versions

NOTE THAT THE VERSIONS YOU SEE SHOULDN'T NECESSARILY MATCH THE IMAGE ABOVE. Always check the Ladybug Tools Compatibility Matrix to determine which version of the engines you should be using for a given release of Ladybug Tools.
