To clone Virtual Machine

1. To copy .vmx file and .vmdk file from source folder to destination folder.
2. To rename .vmx file and .vmdk file.
3. To modify the configuration in .vmx file. For example, to replace all source with destination in .vmx file.

Extension file name in VMware

• .vmdk
  • This is a virtual disk file, which stores the contents of the virtual machine's hard disk drive.
• .vmx
  • This is the primary configuration file, which stores settings chosen in the New Virtual Machine Wizard or virtual machine settings editor.
