Administrator Page Documentation - kyle95wm/CoWFC GitHub Wiki

What is the Admin Page?

The Admin page is an essential part of the CoWFC fork. This page allows an administrator to view all active profiles and consoles on their server. From here, the admin can ban and unban profiles and consoles at will. All bans will publish to the website's Ban Logs page.

Features

The CoWFC fork has many features that the DWC Network Server emulator does not. These features are broken down in the points below:

Bans

CoWFC offers many bans. Additionally, bans can either be unlimited (forever) or for a certain number of minutes. This feature does not exist on Polaris's version, so this fork is much better in that respect. Certain ban types, such as Misc Bans, will cause the banned user to be kicked from the room when the ProfileServer (in CoWFC Core) is called.

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, there is NO way to manually kick a player from the server. You must give them an Misc ban for a few minutes to kick them.

Misc. Bans

These bans, ban the linked IP address to a specific user. This type of ban is enough to prevent them from using console identifier modifiers to circumvent bans.

Console Bans

These bans do as the name suggests. These will ban just the console from being able to connect. The user will, however, be allowed to use another console, as long as the identifiers are unique.

Profile Bans (where applicable to the game)

On some games such as Mario Kart Wii, the administrator may ban the profile. The profile is also known as the license in Mario Kart Wii. The banned user will be free to use another license to connect. These bans are meant as a warning. If the user continues to circumvent bans, a higher ban level may be needed for this case.

Access Point Bans (ONLY AVAIlABLE ON NINTENDO DS)

Access point bans are a right way to ban Nintendo DS consoles. This is because, even if the public IP changes, the MAC changes, or an identifier of the console changes, the Access Point the user is connected to, will be banned. This means the user can buy 100 Nintendo DS consoles, bring them home, and try to get back online. The downside to this kind of ban is banning legit players who attempt to use their DS in a forbidden location, such as Starbucks with free Wi-Fi

Game Administration

By default, CoWFC comes with NO games enabled. This will result in error code 23800 upon first connection. Whitelisting games will require the administrator to enter the ID3 (first three letters of the game ID) of the game to enable it. This feature can not be disabled.

Console Registration

The administrator can view all registered consoles, and can also ban individual consoles right from this page

Abused Consoles

The administrator can view at a glance, the MAC addresses of consoles flagged as abuse. The reason for this is because one console can ONLY have a maximum of TWO (2) MAC addresses. After hitting the threshold, the console will be flagged as abused, and will no longer be able to log into the server. The user will receive error code 23915 upon connection
