Why QUOI

I had 3 main reasons why I wanted to create this app:

• To incorporate French into a tech-related project.
• To learn more through a hands-on project.
• To apply any knowledge gained from work experience/internships.

The Original QUOI

QUOI was intended to be a Chrome extension that could be used whenever a user stumbled upon a website. Now, it is currently being reimagined as a React app. By researching and working extensively on QUOI as a Chrome extension, I eventually realized that a Chrome extension wasn't an appropriate platform for QUOI. Chrome extensions are designed to facilitate the browsing experience on Chrome - my vision of QUOI instead made it seem more suitable as a full-fledged, standalone app.

Inspiration

As a CS student minoring in French, I always use multiple resources to improve my French. Some of the most influential sites and apps I've used so far are:

• Wordreference
• Collins Dictionary (English <-> French)
• Google Translate
• Duolingo

With QUOI, I hope to not only gain hands-on experience with React, but to also create an app combining several features from these apps and sites. Maybe I can make a handy app for myself as well :)
