Quick installation

Step 3 - blockchain store path

Run ferrite-qt.exe If this is the first time you have ran Ferrite on your computer, you might encounter this prompt.

1

Ferrite Core is a full node, and downloading the entire blockchain is necessary. As of 27 Dec 2022, the Ferrite blockchain is about 100 MB. The blockchain records every single transaction that has occured. It is recommended that you have at least 2-4 GB of free storage space. You can use the default data directory at %appdata%/Ferrite or you can specify a custom data directory.

Step 4 - synchronising blocks

Click the OK button to start the synchronisation process You will notice this window.

2

Allow access for data transfer through port 9574 to download blocks from other nodes. Unless you run as a full node, outbound data transfer will be only for broadcasting transactions. You will also see that Ferrite Core is synchronising headers. Please be patient and wait for peers to connect. If headers do not appear to be synchronising, do join the Ferrite Core Telegram group for help.

3 syncing

When headers are fully synchronised, the blocks will be downloaded. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, this can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour as of 27 Dec 2022 (block height 27804). In the meanwhile, you can hide the prompt by clicking the hide button near the bottom-right corner. To make the prompt reappear you can click on the progress bar.

Step 5 - wait for synchronisation

3b syncing

When the blockchain is fully synchronised the bottom right of the Ferrite Core GUI will show a checkmark.
