Hubitat How To : Identify a Zigbee Device - kkossev/Hubitat GitHub Wiki

Every Zigbee device is uniquely identified by its Zigbee Model and Zigbee Manufacturer.

To find your device details :

  1. Click on the 'Devices' in the vertical HE menu on the left side.
  2. Find your device and click on the Device Label (Name)
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the web page.

As usual, Tuya has its interpretations of the Zigbee standards and has swapped the usual meaning of the 'model' and 'manufactuer'

'Model' - Tuya (mis)uses this field to keep something that they call 'Mode Id'*, which can be interpreted as a device type. Some commonly used 'models' are :

IMPORTANT: When asked to provide the Zigbee details for a Tuya device, please do not post screenshots, but use the PC mouse to select/copy and paste the needed data as text, not as a picture!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have purchased this Tuya device from this site (link to the site). Do you think it will work with Hubitat?

A: It is impossible to tell whether a Tuya device will work in Hubitat based on the product picture or the seller's site. There are many different Tuya devices that look the same but have totally different firmware inside.

Q: I have identified my Tuya device Zigbee model and manufacturer. Do you know if it will work properly in Hubitat? A: The only way to know is to install the proper driver and try it. When changing drivers, make sure you click on the Configure button (or select 'LOAD ALL DEFAULTS' and click the 'Initialize' button above.

Q: Will the Tuya devices stop working properly over time?

A: No, if the device is Zigbee and the right HE driver was identified, installed, and worked correctly. All Hubitat drivers new versions (both inbuilt/system and custom/community) are trying to be backward compatible.

A: Yes, if the Tuya device uses WiFi for communication - there is always a risk that Tuya may shut down the free 'developers' access to their Cloud services. Purchase and use only Zigbee Tuya devices when possible.

Q: My Tuya Zigbee device model is TS0601. Which is the right TS0601 driver? Do I need to install only one driver?

A: Unfortunately, there is no single TS0601 driver in Hubutat. Tuya (mis)uses Zigbee model TS0601 for many and very different types of devices. See the detailed information above for TS0601 devices and find the correct driver, depending on the device type.

Q: What's wrong when posting screenshots?

A: The device model/manufacturer, the inClusters data, etc., are usually needed to search the web (or Hubitat forum) for information available for this particular device. The screenshot pixels are not searchable... It is difficult and prone to errors to read correctly and then type in the random letters and numbers that are used for the manufacturer value. So please help the developer with the difficulties reading the small random characters from the screenshot and select/copy/paste the needed information as text.
