Prepare for Installation - Before proceeding, please ensure your printer is powered off and cool to the touch.

As usual, we’ll begin by installing the required heat-set inserts into the toolhead mount components. These provide durable threaded holes for later assembly.

Step 1: Install Heat Inserts

  • MGN12H_Mount_Block_Front: Install 2 x heat-set inserts
  • MGN12H_Mount_Block: Install 4 x heat-set inserts
  • Cartographer Mount: Install 4 x heat-set inserts

Step 2: Installation of Probe and X end-stop

  1. Attach the Cartographer Mount - Secure the Cartographer_Mount to the previously installed MGN12H_Mount_Block using 2 x M3x8 button head cap screws (BHCS). Ensure the mount is properly aligned before tightening.

  2. Install the X End-Stop (If Required) - If your setup does not use sensorless homing, install the X end-stop switch using 2 x M2x10 socket head cap screws (SHCS).

⚠️ Skip this step if you are using sensorless homing.

  1. Mount the Cartographer Probe - Attach the Cartographer probe to the mount using the M3x8 low-profile screws included with your probe kit. Tighten securely, but avoid overtightening to prevent damage. Route the cable from the Cartographer Probe through the mount channel.

Step 3: Remove the Existing Toolhead

  1. Disconnect and Remove Carefully remove your existing toolhead. This typically involves:

    • Disconnecting any wiring or cable chains
    • Loosening mounting screws
    • Detaching the toolhead from the MGN12H linear rail carriage

  2. Loosen Belt Tensioners Fully loosen the belt tensioners to allow for easy belt removal and re-routing.

Step 4: Install the MGN12H Mount Block

  1. Remove Old Mounting Block Detach the existing mounting block from the MGN12H carriage.

  2. Align New Mount Block Position the MGN12H_Mount_Block over the MGN12H slider. Feed both belts through the designated slots in the mount, routing them outward toward each side.

  3. Match Belt Lengths - Ensure that all four belt ends are pulled through evenly, with equal length on all sides for proper tensioning and alignment.

  4. Secure the Mount Block - Once aligned, fasten the mount block to the carriage using 4 x M3x8 button head cap screws (BHCS). Tighten securely.

Step 4: Install the Front Mount Block

  1. Position the Front Mount Block - Take the MGN12H_Mount_Block_Front and slide it down from the top onto the already-installed MGN12H_Mount_Block. Ensure it is fully seated and aligned with the mounting holes.

  2. Secure the Assembly - Fasten the front block using 4 x M3x16 socket head cap screws (SHCS). Tighten securely to ensure a rigid connection between the two mounting components.

Step 7: Install the Toolhead to the Carriage

  1. Mount the Toolhead - Carefully align the Jabberwocky Toolhead with the Cartographer_Mount on the carriage. Secure it using 2 x M3x35 socket head cap screws (SHCS) through the front face.

  2. Secure from Behind - From the rear side of the toolhead, install 1 x M3x8 button head cap screw (BHCS) to lock the assembly in place.

  3. Installation Complete! That’s it — your Jabberwocky Toolhead is now installed.
