With so many components needed to securely transfer your passwords from KeePass to Firefox, the version numbers used by these components can get a little confusing so this section clarifies the situation.
##KeeFox 1.2.x and lower:
- Requires Firefox 4 or higher
- Requires KeePass 2.15 or higher
- Works with KeePassRPC 1.2.x and lower (each KeeFox version works with a specific KeePassRPC version which often but not always matches the KeeFox version number)
- KeePassRPC 1.2.x and earlier use what is now referred to as the KeePassRPC protocol version 1
##KeeFox 1.3:
- Requires Firefox 17 or higher
- Requires KeePass 2.15 or higher
- Works with KeePassRPC 1.3 and higher (each KeeFox version works with a specific KeePassRPC version which often but not always matches the KeeFox version number)
- KeePassRPC 1.3 and higher use the KeePassRPC protocol version 2
Provided that you are running a new enough version of Firefox and KeePass, the upgrade from KeeFox 1.2.* to KeeFox 1.3 or higher will be smooth and easy. If you've customised the connection between KeeFox and KeePass in previous version of KeePassRPC, please read Upgrading from KeeFox 1.2.
If you are running any version of KeeFox lower than 1.2, please also read Upgrading from KeeFox 1.1.
If you are running old versions of KeePass or Firefox, please consider upgrading - there are many important security and stability improvements in recent releases which should trump more-or-less any other preference you have for the older versions. As explained on the official website KeeFox is designed to work on as old a version of Firefox as possible but only recent versions are tested and supported.
