. There is no limit to the number of partitions or "levels" for a topic. It is at the discretion of the author. Topics can be partitioned into sub topics, sub topics into sub sub topics, sub sub topics into sub sub sub topics and so forth. Add additional "#"'s to the heading for each subsequent level. Level 4 headings and less are not included within the TOC.
