Clash of Titans: The Story Thus Far - kaseido/NeoTokyo GitHub Wiki

Some years back, Lane crossed Dekyan Zhukov, then a rising star at the defense contractor BADI, publishing an expose on his business practices. She’d apparently dropped off his radar until the team’s high-profile successes drew his attention again. Simultaneously, BADI collapsed under political pressure, and various actors raided its corporate corpse, including both Zhukov and Tiffany Nguyen, NeoTokyo’s other prominent solo entrepreneur.

Zhukov blew up Lane’s apartment as an opening move. Lane noted that he was also doing some serious maneuvering for power, in opposition to Ngyuen, and tried to forge an alliance with her. She got blown off various time by flunkies, and was stymied until she asked for a favor from Planetary COO Chance Aspect, who invited both her and Tiffany over to her place for a private dinner – which resulted in Lane hooking up with Tiffany, and landing a contract to assassinate Zhukov.

The problem is, he’s a major defense contractor – and thus majorly defended – and no one really knows his whereabouts. The team received a gift from uber-hacker Deadman – known to be very, very dead – of a package of files related to Zhukov’s construction of a secret undersea base. They also knew from the news that Zhukov had sent tanks against what was supposed to be an abandoned warehouse in Haiphong, once owned by Exanic, manufacturer of spaceplanes.

Since the Dominion attack, there hasn’t been any NeoTokyo-owned ground to space transport – it all went through Starfleet. Now that Starfleet’s gone, the market’s open – and should Zhukov hold the only working spaceplane, he’d have a stranglehold on offplanet travel – probably not a good thing for anyone but Zhukov.

Zhukov then staged a not very heavy assault on the team’s headquarters, thinking it just a bar, and not knowing massive security upgrades had just been installed. The attack failed, with his chief of security dead and two of his mooks on ice at Big Al’s. The team went to Haiphong and confirmed the attack by Zhukov’s forces, and that he did get a partially-cannibalized spaceplane and some crates of parts, which he extracted by sea.

Tiffany offered the services of one of her subsidiaries, TreeHouse, which specializes in oceanic engineering, to track down the lair and now potentially the spaceplane.

TreeHouse analysts found some clues in the data. There’s two immediate leads: one, a shady shipping company that’s apparently having a massive liquidation sale, and two, an info broker who will be flying in tomorrow for a consultation.
