What resonated most with me about this reading was that the spirit of DIY is amazing. It's all about the messy process, using random available parts, working within constraints, uneven results, and learning new stuff. It's about about the spirit of prototyping just for fun, and maybe you'll also get really cool, unexpected results at the end that teach you things you didn't know you needed to know. DIY can exist outside of consumer culture since it encourages the maker to 1) BE A MAKER INSTEAD OF A CONSUMERER; and 2) to use what's available. These are wonderful approaches to live by!
