FAQ - jwplayer/jw-showcase GitHub Wiki

This page contains answers to frequently asked questions about JW Showcase.

Q: Why am I getting 404 "Page not found" errors on my site?

A: Your site is not (or improperly) configured for URL rewriting, which is required for Showcase. In most cases, the errors are because you did not copy the .htaccess file from the Showcase release package to your site. For more info, see the "Deploying JW Showcase" page in this Wiki.

Q: Why am I getting the error "{{ rootVm.dataStore.error.message }}" when I try to load my site?

A: By default, JW Showcase assumes the site is in your top-level web document root (/). If you want to use a subdirectory (for example, /videos/), edit the index.html file and replace the slash in <base href="/"> with your subdirectory (for example, "/videos/").

Q: How do I upgrade my Showcase to the latest version?

A: If you haven't customized the Showcase HTML or CSS files, download the latest precompiled static app Zip file from the Releases page and overwrite all the Showcase files and folders on your server EXCEPT the config.json file and images folder. If you have customized your Showcase, you will need to transfer your changes to the newer files. We recommend using a versioning tool like Git to track and merge changes from version to version.

Q: Why aren't my users seeing the social sharing buttons?

A: We have had reports of this occurring when the user is running an ad blocker in his or her browser.
