How to use Putty & A console cable to connect to a switch CLI

• In order to use CLI on a physical switch, you need to have a functional workstation and a console cable. Power up the switch and connect the console cable to the workstation via USB, and connect the console end to the console port on the switch. Next, open Putty on the workstation. In devices, figure out what COM the USB is designated, ex. COM8.

• In Putty, change the serial connection to the correct COM unit, and in session change the input to serial and make sure the COM unit is correct. Now, hit connect and enter a few times once the Putty screen is up, and you should be connected.
