How to configure OSPF - jwells24/Tech-Journal GitHub Wiki
Configuring OSPF
- OSPF is used as an Interior Routing Protocol, to provide routing for our network. In order to set up OSPF, we first have to configure all of our routers in the network and PCs with their correct IP addresses. Next, on each router, we have to enable OSPF and designate each network that is directly connected to the router.
-
In the image above, we see first the command to enable OSPF, router OSPF 1. The 1 is the number of the OSPF instance, since we only have one we use that to designate the first. The next three commands show how to designate each directly connected network on the router. You put network, then the network address and wildcard mask of the network, and finish off by designating the base area, being area 0.
-
Once all of this is done, you should be able to ping across routers after allowing OSPF to communicate around.
