What is High-Powered Computing and Rivanna?

When handling large data files and performing complex operations in R, Stata, Python, or other coding languages on your computer, you may often run into issues. For example, your computer may not have the memory to handle that complex work. Or, you may just not have the patience to wait for your computer to run code for hours or days on end. This is where high-powered computing and Rivanna comes in. Rivanna is a network of high-powered computers owned and operated by the University of Virginia. Each of these computers contains large amounts of memory. Jobs can be distributed across multiple cores or nodes to enable parallel processing.
