Content Guidelines
Overview
Content at Ruach Studios isn't just entertainment β it's restoration work. Every story, every frame, every word should point toward truth, identity, and purpose.
We don't follow formulas. We don't chase trends. We create counterculture rooted in timeless truth.
Core Principles
1. Restoration, Not Deconstruction
We build up, not tear down. Our content restores:
- Identity β Who people are in God's eyes
- Purpose β Why they exist and what they're made for
- Hope β Confidence in a redemptive narrative
Avoid:
- Cynicism masked as sophistication
- Nihilism dressed as realism
- Despair presented as honesty
Embrace:
- Truth that comforts and convicts
- Stories that inspire without manipulating
- Beauty that points beyond itself
2. Truth Over Comfort
We speak what's real, even when it's hard. But truth without grace is cruelty.
Balance:
- Be direct, not harsh
- Be clear, not condemning
- Be bold, not abrasive
3. Excellence Without Pretension
We pursue craftsmanship, not clout. Our work should be:
- Technically excellent β No amateur shortcuts
- Visually beautiful β Aesthetics matter
- Narratively compelling β Tell stories that stick
But never:
- Elitist or inaccessible
- Self-congratulatory
- Artsy for the sake of artsy
4. Faith-Informed, Not Preachy
Our content is grounded in biblical truth, but we don't beat people over the head with it.
Show, don't tell:
- Let themes emerge naturally
- Trust the audience to connect dots
- Let beauty and truth speak for themselves
Avoid:
- Heavy-handed moralizing
- Cartoonish characters representing "good" vs "evil"
- Cheesy Christian clichΓ©s

Narrative Philosophy
Story Structure
We follow classic storytelling principles:
- Inciting Incident β Something disrupts the status quo
- Rising Action β Stakes increase, tension builds
- Climax β The turning point
- Falling Action β Consequences unfold
- Resolution β A new equilibrium is reached
But we also embrace open-ended conclusions when appropriate. Not every story needs a neat bow.
Character Development
Great characters:
- Have clear wants and needs (often in conflict)
- Face internal and external obstacles
- Experience transformation (or tragic failure to transform)
- Feel real β flawed, complex, multi-dimensional
Avoid:
- Flat, one-dimensional "good guys" and "bad guys"
- Characters who exist only to deliver a message
- Unrealistic perfection or melodrama
Theme vs. Message
Theme = The underlying idea explored (e.g., redemption, identity, sacrifice)
Message = A didactic statement you're trying to force (e.g., "Always forgive others")
β
Explore themes
β Preach messages
Let the audience wrestle with truth. Don't spoon-feed conclusions.
