  2. Report from EB meeting on 07 August:

    • Discussion planned on 22nd August with Gregor about a side-meeting in October.
    • The side-meeting has to be placed in draft-agenda for the annual meeting. Draft-agenda and more information available here.
    • The document of the stakeholder meeting in Nairobi (in May) was uploaded to Confluence.
    • The lessons-learned report: KMD is working on that
    • Discussions about accomodation at the annual meeting
    • They discussed about some funding opportunities (Belmont forum and EPIC)

  3. Kenya visit by Jörg

    Jörg went to Kenya together with Beni Brem (PSI) with a new nepholemeter on 10th July. They did some tests with the new and old nepholemeter, and decommissioned the old aethalometer (took it back to Nairobi). He also worked on the ozone calibration. He had a look at ozone equipment in Nairobi and installed the old aethalometer there (running in parallel to the IQR sensor that was installed last year).
    He had 2 meetings (KADI and CH-GAW activities in Kenya) with Kennedy Thiong'o, Christine, Patricia, Beni (GAW). They raised the important issue of renewing the collaboration between Kenya and Switzerland (Meteoswiss requires a new plan for the period after 2025). Ideally, KMD would draft a document to describe their perspective of future collaboration, and Meteoswiss can then elaborate on that. They also discussed about the side-meeting at the annual meeting in October. Minutes of the meetings will be shared, Chrisitine is awaiting the chairman signature and will then share them.

    Comments/ update by Christine
    Christine again briefly introduces herself, she is mainly working on the user engagement within KADI. She has been working the last 10 years on user-related issues at KMD. She was involved in the stakeholder workshop, report will be shared. Christine comments on future collaboration. On the Kenya side, there is a lot of demand on climate change services. The GAW station is not fully exploited yet. A strategy document should be developed by KMD to show how to use the station to support climate information and research.

  4. Discussion Documents AfriGEO conference

    Theresia will participate in a Panel Discussion at the AfriGEO conference. It would be good to give some input from our perspective.   5. Diverse

    • Leonie will give a presentation at the ICOS Science conference (presentation upload deadline 3rd September), Jörg will present on the ESA conference. They will collaborate on the presentation and share it with all co-authors.
