Ingredients
Daal
- 1 cup red lentils
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 20 oz water
- Olive oil - to drizzle
Tarka
- 2 Tbsp Ghee or butter
- 1½ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 inch fresh ginger
- Green chili pepper - to taste
Serve
Procedure
Daal
Rinse lentils until water is clear
Add water and turmeric to lentils. Slow simmer until lentils become soft.
Tarka
Sizzle cumin seeds in ghee until aromatic.
Add ginger and green chilli, saute to reduce moisture.
Add Onions and slightly brown.
Serve
Mix lentils, salt, most cilantro and Tarka.
Garnish with remaining cilantro.
