Software Engineer (range €30K and 40.000€) in Comalatech (Bilbao) - jjmata/offers GitHub Wiki
PROCESS ENDED SUCCESSFULLY. Comalatech has a new Software Engineer :)
Introduction
Our first EVER job posting in English is for our friends of Comalatech. David and Gorka know very well this amazing company, because they both worked there 🤟🏻 Comalatech is an international company with the team members spread around the world: Business, marketing and support members are based in Canada, the CTO is in Australia, and the product and development team is in Spain.
They are one of the Top Sellers in the Atlassian Marketplace, with 12 apps for Confluence and Jira. Comalatech has some top-notch apps like Comala Workflows to support reviews and approvals to Confluence pages or Canvas for Jira to visually organize projects.
If you are interested in working with them, we’ll go with your through the whole process to make sure you SHINE and success :)
What you’ll do
They are looking for a new buddy for their office in Bilbao. A software engineer who helps the team building the next top selling apps and maintaining the existing ones.
Depending on your abilities and skills, you’ll join one of their teams: The cloud team, which is in charge of the apps for Atlassian’s SaaS products, or the server team, which handles the apps for Atlassian’s on-premises products. Don’t worry, you’ll soon learn the differences between both teams ;-)
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both back-end and front-end work. And since Comalatech is still a small (although growing) team, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in different stages of the development cycle.
Besides that, they have an interesting process, the “developer on support”. In order to help everyone to understand customers’ pains, every sprint, there’s a developer helping support.
All in all, if you are a passionate developer, focused on quality, then, this is an opportunity for you.
After 1 month...
You’ll already know all your new colleagues, who does what within Comalatech, and who can help you out when you feel lost.
You’ll have already fixed some bugs, so your code will be running in thousands of customers. Probably you won’t be able to explain to your grandma what every app does, but don’t worry, still your first month.
After 3 months...
You’ll have contributed to features, reviewed your colleagues pull requests and helped support with difficult tickets. As well as visited the best pintxos bars for the amaiketako with your teammates.
After 6 months...
Probably for this date, you won’t be the rookie anymore, so you’ll be helping new team members to understand the full development cycle of the apps. Depending on the timing, you’ll have attended a Hackathon and nice lunch with your Canadian and Aussie colleagues.
How you’ll do it
Both dev teams work with a pragmatic approach to Scrum. Two weeks sprints in a continuous deployment process with everything integrated and automated: From Jira, Confluence, Bamboo or Bitbucket to Slack, when you push your code, the wheel starts to spin. However, there are deadlines like events or conferences, and the scope is adjusted, depending on what the teams deliver at the end of each iteration.
Who you’ll do it with
- Naiara Martín (Frontend Developer & UX Designer) - Over 15 years experience building web applications, she is a key member of the UI/UX team.
- Juan Alvarez (Software Architect) - over 5 years of experience building Atlassian apps, and many more architecting software systems he is currently leading the development of Comalatech’s cloud applications.
- Patricia Yagüe (Team Leader) - a Java development veteran, she leads the development of Comalatech’s server application development.
- Shannon Krebs (CTO) - With more than 10 years of experience working in the Atlassian ecosystem he runs the Comalatech development and support teams from his home base in Australia.
When you’ll do it
In Comalatech they enjoy a flexible schedule, you only need to worry about staying ready for the daily standup of your team. And during the Summer months, you’ll enjoy the Summer time, so you can spend your afternoons in the swimming pool or with your family :)
Where you’ll do it
Comalatech Bilbao office is located in the Gran Via, right in the city center, close to bars, shops, gyms… In the office you’ll find fresh fruit, coffee, teas, milk, (and sometimes wine…) Anything you need for having breakfast or a snack during the morning.
And every Tuesday the team that is not in Bilbao (colleagues from Pamplona, Cantabria, Donostia and Vitoria-Gasteiz) gather to see each other, discuss important matters and have a pintxo (or two).
