1.1 Objective

Oh My Goods! is a card-driven strategy game where players develop production chains to generate goods and convert them into victory points.

Players must balance:

  • Resource management
  • Risk vs reliability
  • Long-term strategy

1.2 Core Gameplay Loop

Each round follows this rhythm:

  • Gain new cards
  • Plan your production
  • Watch the market unfold
  • Resolve production and build

1.3 Summary of Gameplay

The game operates as a phase-based system, where players: Draw cards #1 (Market Display Opens - Sunrise) β†’ Plan actions β†’ Draw cards #2 (Market Display Closes - Sunset) β†’ Resolve actions (production begins)

Setup

  • Player is dealt 1 Charburner + 1 Main Worker
  • Assistants are placed on the side of tableau (2 per player)
  • Player is dealt 5 cards into their hand
  • Player is dealt 7 cards to be put on Charburner (represents goods)

Round Structure

Each round consists of 4 phases executed in order.

Phase 1 β€” Preparation - Draw Phase #1 (Market Display opens - Sunrise)

Step 1: Set-up

  • Each player is dealt 2 cards from the deck into their hand

Notes:

  • This is the primary way players gain new resources and options

Cards drawn to player hands may be used as:

  • Buildings
  • Resources
  • Economic resource

Phase 2 β€” Planning Phase

Step 1: Player Decisions

Each player simultaneously performs:

  1. Select Worker Mode Choose one of either Efficient Worker or Sloppy Worker
  2. Assign Worker Select a building to activate for production
  3. Optional Action Place a building card face down (queued for construction) OR Hire an Assistant (pay a cost and assign assistant to an existing building)

Notes:

  • All decisions are locked in before Phase 3
  • No changes after this phase

Phase 3 β€” Resource Finalisation - Draw Cards #2 (Market Display Closes - Sunset)

  • Continue drawing cards onto the tableau
  • Stop when 2 additional Half Sun symbols appear

Result:

  • All revealed cards form the Market Display, or inventory of available resources for players

Phase 4 β€” Resolution Phase / Production

  • This is where all game logic / player actions are executed

Resource Aggregation Available resources are pooled from:

  • Player hand
  • Market Display

Production Resolution Order Production is resolved in a strict order:

Step 1: Initial Production

  • Condition: Required resources are available
  • Effect: Consume required resources
  • Produce: Goods Produced, Produced Goods Value (Coins)

Step 2: Linked Production Chain

  • Condition: Base Production Chain succeeded, additional resources are available
  • Effect: Produce additional Goods

Step 3: Assistant Bonus

  • Condition: Assistant assigned to building
  • Effect: Produce additional Goods

Apply Production Output Add produced goods to:

  • Player inventory

Building Construction Condition: Player queued a building in Phase 2 Effect: Pay Cost to Build (in Coins), move building to player’s Building Site (face up)

Clean-up

After all production has concluded, clear the Market Display. The next round will then start.

Game End

  • Trigger: Any player reaches 8 Buildings
  • Final Round: Complete the current round
  • Play one additional round
  • Tally VPs, player with the highest wins
