1.5: High Speed Board Identification - jessaskey/fluke900link GitHub Wiki

One important footnote on the Fluke 900 is that different versions exist depending on when the unit was built and/or which features were ordered from the factory.

From reading the Fluke 900 Service Manual, it states that units with serial numbers below 4920000 will have Version 1 of the High Speed Board (HSB1) (the densely populated PCB inside the base of the unit when opened). While subsequent units will contain either Version 2 (HSB2) or Version 3 (HSB3) of the High Speed Board. Also noted in the Service Manual is that HSB2 and HSB3 are functionally equivalent even tho their hardware is slightly different.

The table below summarizes the Features that can be installed on the various versions of the Fluke 900 with different HSB’s installed.

HSB Version PCB Number Shadow RAM Option Delayed Gate Option Simulation Option
HSB1 300-508-1 No No No
HSB2 300-508-2 Optional Optional Optional
HSB3 300-508-3 Optional Optional Optional

The Fluke900Link software can be used with any of these units. However, the 3 options installed will affect how you can create and execute test sequences. If a sequence was made to include a simulation library of all devices and you do not have the simulation option available in your unit, you will simply need to insert a Reference Device (RD) into the ZIF socket at each test step. For units with the simulation option installed and having the Device Under Test (DUT) available in the simulation library, a reference device is not needed at all.
