Reviewing the editorial process - jcmsjournal/editorial GitHub Wiki

The Journal will review the editorial process in a structured and ongoing way, according to the following:

Six months: initial internal review

Starting on May 1, 2018—six months after the new masthead takes over—the editors of the Journal will conduct an internal review of the new editorial procedures. The factors in such a review will be published to this wiki in advance of the review. The editors will conduct the review amongst themselves, using both qualitative and quantitative factors. Changes may be made at that point, and will be announced on this wiki.

Twelve months: full review

Starting on November 1, 2018—a year after the new masthead takes over—the editors of the Journal will conduct a fuller review of the new editorial procedures, consulting with other constituencies, including (but not necessarily limited to): members of the editorial board, authors, and reviewers. The factors and procedures will be published to this wiki in advance of the review. The editors will collect consultative information from the aforementioned constituencies. They will deliberate in light of this information, and once again, changes may be made at this point.

The reviews will be conducted to minimize changes to editorial procedures in media res. Normally, articles will be reviewed according to the procedures that govern at time of submission, but in extremis, we will consult with authors regarding any salient changes to policy.
