"What is Amazon? It is an approach used in every single thing we do. It is a few principles we use as we go about activities:
- Customer Obsession: Instead of competitor, business model, product, or technology obsession.
- Eager To Invent & Pioneer: Customers want a better way, they just don't know what it is. This means not just listening to customers, but inventing on their behalf.
- Long-term Orientation: Think in 5-7 year timeframes rather than 2-3 year timeframes. This quarters results were fully baked 3 years ago. Today, I am not working on next quarter, but a quarter that will happen in 2020. This is a discipline you have to apply."
