Mezzmo Kodi Addon Installation, Updates and Support

Installation

Using the Mezzmo and the Kodi addon is a simple process:

Before starting: While the Mezzmo Kodi addon does its utmost not to interfere with any of your current Kodi database data, it is highly suggested to do a backup before starting.

  1. Install Mezzmo. Detailed instructions. .
  2. Import your video, music and pictures into Mezzmo. Detailed instructions. Supported media types. Click here to see how to manage your library and add content. For this phase I suggest going slow and starting with a single folder (i.e. path) in your existing Kodi library. Remember you are building a new library in Mezzmo but Mezzmo can import your existing Kodi NFO files.
  3. Installation of the Mezzmo Kodi addon is as simple as downloading from GitHub and installing from the zipfile in Kodi. Detailed instructions can be found here .

Mezzmo Kodi Addon only installation.

If you have an existing Mezzmo or UPnP server and only want to install the Mezzmo Kodi addon then you can skip steps 1 & 2. If you are accessing a new or existing UPnP server, please see the UPnP Server page and pay close attention to the proper view setting.

Managing your Mezzmo servers

Once you install the Mezzmo Kodi addon and launch it into GUI mode the first thing you will see is a listing of Mezzmo servers that the addon automatically discovers. You should see your Mezzmo server listed with the name you gave it when you installed Mezzmo.

If your server is not listed you can try hitting Refresh and letting it try again to automatically discover your server. Make sure your server is started in the Mezzmo GUI. If your Mezzmo server still isn't automatically discovered you can enter the server IP address manually by clicking on Add Server Manually.

Once you enter the IP address you will choose which server type you are adding.

Lastly, you will be prompted for the server port number. The default port, based upon the server type you selected will be presented. You can change it or stay with the default, if you didn't change it on your server.

You should get a notification message indicating your server was added and once the server list refreshes loading you should now see your new server in the list.

One issue which can occur is that a previously discovered server goes away but the Mezzmo Kodi addon still tries to query it on startup, eventually giving a message that the server did not respond. The timing of this delay is based upon the Server Search Time value in the addon settings.

Beginning with versions 1.1.7.2 and 2.1.7.2 you will be prompted to remove a UPnP server which is no longer responding. If you choose "Yes" the server will be removed from the saved server list and you will not be prompted again when restarting the Mezzmo Kodi addon GUI. If you choose "No" the server will not be removed from the saved server list and will be checked again when you restart the Mezzmo Kodi addon GUI. This is useful when you have taken a UPnP server down for a short period of time and you don't want to rediscover your UPnP servers.

Hitting the Refresh option will clear all currently discovered servers (including manually added servers), including the one which isn't responding, and the Mezzmo Kodi addon will rediscover all currently responding servers. If you had previously manually entered a sever, you will need to add it again after doing a Refresh.

Notes on manually entered server IP addresses:

  • Manually entered IP addresses will be remembered through restarts of the Mezzmo Kodi addon.
  • They will only be deleted if you perform a Refresh and they will need to be manually added again.
  • The server name displayed in the listing is obtained from the server. It cannot be changed in the Mezzmo Kodi addon.

Support for manually adding non-Mezzmo UPnP servers and Mezzmo running on nonstandard ports is available on versions 1.1.6.1 / 2.1.6.1 and higher of the Mezzmo Kodi addon.
