I will use ultra-flat dip-20 sockets for the four empty onboard RAM positions, and one dip-18 socket for U32 (doesn't need to be ultra-flat but mine was). The reason for the four ultra-flats is for the RAMs to clear the A500 keyboard.
The untouched board looked like this:
Removing all solder from holes and pads using my desolder station ZD-915
Adding the ultra-flat sockets and DRAM chips (256k x 4 bit):
Solder pads fixed
- JP2 - bottom 2 pads blobbed together
- JP3 - top left and top right pad blobbed together, bottom left and bottom right blobbed together
- JP7A - leave open
- JP9 - do not touch
keyboard clearance, check!
Removing and replacing capacitors
Final Result with MC74F139N added to U32:
