PFsense HA cluster - jay-donovan/eve-ng-labs GitHub Wiki

Image setup

for this lab you will need to download the free pfsense iso image

I will also be using windows 10, but any OS with a browser will work.

In this lab I am using a NAT network to connect the pfsense firewalls to the internet.

setting up image

following the guide on the eve-ng website you can create the image required.

Creating the lab

you need to add two pfsense firewalls to your lab, as per the guide above you need to set the console mode to VNC. when creating the two new nodes make sure you select 3 ethernet ports as we will use one for the HA link.

the final topology looks like this.

initial config

Selected vtnet0 as internet and vtnet1 as LAN, the other will be left as unassigned for now.

set the password (this will need to be changed later)

Complete this on both firewalls.

On the windows PC we are going to disable an interface as both firewalls will default to 192.168.1.1 and the two interfaces with the same IP range will cause issues.

Once the NIC is disabled you will need to navigate to 192.168.1.1 and start configuring it.
