MediBuddy Remote Patient Monitor

Abstract

Health & security should go hand in hand. MediBuddy is an Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) device that will let users check & store basic health vitals. Blending cybersecurity & health tech to create a portable sensor that allows users to stream their vitals directly to health care providers. We are currently working on making a prototype of this device based on Arduino microcontrollers. Our goal is to help make telehealth more accessible and comprehensive.

Problem

Healthcare can be difficult to access a variety of reasons, and with the dangers of the coronavirus (COVID19) healthcare visits are being put off or avoided completely in staggering numbers. (Czeisler et al.) Telehealth can offer a great solution in many cases, but health care providers often require in-person consultation to accurately care for patients.

Purpose

The purpose of our project is to create "proof of concept" for a low cost, patient facing medical device. Our device, the MediBuddy would be used to inform remote medical personnel of patient health information. In doing so we hope to make healthcare more accessible.
