Case study competition - janeshdev/ggplot2 GitHub Wiki
To publicize the new location of the ggplot2 wiki and to showcase more of the things that you’re doing with ggplot2, we’re organizing a second ggplot2 case study competition. To enter, you need to write up a small case study where you’ve found ggplot2 useful and add it to the home page. A valid entry is a wiki page that contains (at a minimum):
- your name and affiliation
- the plot
- why you created that plot and what it revealed
- the code used to create the plot
- (if possible) the data behind the plot
If you want to, you might also want to show some other related plots, or some of the steps you took to get to your final plot. You are welcome to enter as many times as you like. Here are some example case studies from last year’s competition.
- Mapping orientation of coral reef fish, Jean-Olivier Irisson (JiHO)
- Transmission through arrays of gold particles, Baptiste Auguié
- Reliability of and correlations between attention networks, Mike Lawrence
- Climate and Mortality in Vienna (Austria), Stefan Muthers
- Flying over the USA, Heike Hofmann, Iowa State University
Once your page is complete, link to it from the case studies list on the home page, and send me an email ([email protected]) with your contact details so that I can get in touch if you win.
Judging will be done by three judges from the R community:
- David Smith, Revolution Analytics
- Heike Hofmann, Iowa State University
- Hadley Wickham, Rice University
Thanks to generous donations we have some great prizes this year:
- Revolution Analytics has donated a 32 GB ipod touch.
- Springer has donated two free books (of your choice) from the Use R! series.
The judges will pick a grand prize winner to receive the ipod and two finalists to each receive a free book.
Please get in touch if your company would like to sponsor additional prizes.
Competition closes 1 October 2010.
