There are five different types of domains on the internet:
- Top-Level Domains:
- These domains are at the top of the internet hierachy for domain names. they include:
- .com
- .website
- .info
- .club
- .org
- .host
- .co
- .net
- .online
- .space
- .me
- .site
- These domains are at the top of the internet hierachy for domain names. they include:
- Country Code Top Level Domains:
- These domains are tied to different countries, each owns its own ccTLD.
- Generic Top-Level Domains:
- These domains consist of a different variation of a TLD.
- Second-Level Domains:
- these domains are below the TLD's in terms of hierarchy, this does not mean they are any less authoritative or valuable.
- Third Level Domains:
- These domains are mainly used for creating a subdomain to the existing domain, which can be used for vairous reasons like:
- Adding a blog
- Creating a resource section
- Hosting an app
- Creating an online store
