Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) data set

Collecting information about people in contact with adult psychological therapy services in England.

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) is an NHS programme began in 2008 in England that offers interventions approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for transforming the treatment of people with depression or anxiety disorders.

The IAPT programme is supported by a regular return of data generated by providers of IAPT services in delivering those services to patients. These data are received by NHS Digital and released as statistical publications covering activity, waiting times and patient outcomes such as recovery.

Data Quality Notes

Instances of the invalid string "CHANG and "C have been seen in the data. Both instances are invalid codes.

REFERRAL_PSEUDO_2020_21 the value, “CHANG, is present in the field, PROVDIAG

Demographics_and_referral_{fyear}_pseudo the value, ”C, is in the field, SourceOfReferralMH

In v1.5, there was a cleaned-up version of the PROVDIAG called IC_PROVDIAG and this field was used in producing our published reports. For the “CHANG values in PROVDIAG, the corresponding value in IC_PROVDIAG is -3 which indicates an invalid code. I don't know if IC_PROVDIAG was in the DARS extract for v1.5.

In v1.5 only ICD-10 codes were valid for PROVDIAG.

For SourceOfReferralMH in v2.0, the value of “C was not one of the valid values listed in the TOS.
