Flux Distribution Tool - iat-cener/tonatiuh GitHub Wiki

Tonatiuh has a tool to analyse the flux distribution in a selected surface. To execute the tool click on the shortcut which is in the Ray Trace taskbar near the Run button (see Figure 1) or in the Ray Trace menu (see Figure 2). "Ray Trace">"Run Flux Analysis ...".

Note that this new tool only works for three kind of surfaces: cylinder, flat disk and flat rectangle.

Settings

First, the user must select the surface which will be analyse and the data needed to run the simulation:

  • Surface URL
  • Active side
  • Number of rays to trace for the simulation
  • Grid discretization

Flux distribution and output data

Once the simulation is ran the flux distribution will be calculated according to the specified grid divisions and shown. Besides, more information about the flux distribution is calculated to make more detailed the analysis.

Next figure highlights the flux distribution and two graphs, these two plots are the flux distribution along the horizontal and vertical directions since a point specified by the user with the coordinates located above.

Figure 4. Flux distribution and sector plots.

Interesting statistical values are calculated related to the obtained flux distribution:

  • Total power [W]
  • Minimum flux [W/m2]
  • Average flux [W/m2]
  • Maximum flux [W/m2]
  • Maximum flux coordinates
  • Error
  • Uniformity
  • Centroid

Export

It is possible to export the flux distribution. It can be exported as an image or as text file. The user decides if the text file contains the coordinates of each cell or just the values of flux.
