i.AI design kit decisions

This wiki records the decisions made during the initial i.AI design kit sprint in Autumn 2026. It covers how we build on GOV.UK Frontend, how products are themed and branded, and how the kit is built and used.

Each decision records what was decided, why a decision was needed, the options considered and the consequences. The aim is that anyone can follow the reasoning, not just the outcome.

Types of decision

• ADR (architecture decision record): how the kit is built, distributed and maintained
• IDR (interaction decision record): how components and patterns look and behave

How it works

• Every decision is numbered and grouped in the summary table.
• Decisions that are superseded or changed are archived but the detail is accessible if needed.
