Troubleshooting

No program installed

It is possible to lock the device when no program is installed, or the running program is stopped. This will disable cellular communication, and requires a USB connection. If done while in the field, it is not possible to restart the buoy, and you must recover it.

Unfortunately, reprogramming is not as simple as plugging into a computer, because of the way power is supplied to the CR300 internally from the battery.

First you will have to take apart the housing and disconnect the battery barrel connectors.

Using either Campbell Scientific's DevConfig or PC400, you will need to make sure the USB drivers are installed on a Windows computer. When you have the software setup, physically connect the computer to the Ai1 USB port normally used for communication. Do not use the USB ports on the internal boards. You do not need to supply power, as the 5V USB power is sufficient for programming.

In the case when no program is running the red LED should be always on once the cable is connected. The COM port will appear in the Communication Port options as something like CR300 (COM6). Make sure that the baud rate is set to 9600, but you do not have to specify a PakBus address.

At this point you should be able to connect.

Once you do so, make sure there is a program installed and set to run, so that the device will be accessible in the normal TCP/IP mode over cellular.
