Article_maintenance - hpgDesigns/hpgdesigns-dev.io GitHub Wiki
This article is about maintaining articles, and cleaning them up, not about contribution guidelines, nor does this article attempt to document all templates in existence. It is only here to inform you of the general procedures used in maintaining articles.
Categorizing Articles
When placing a category tag in an article, it should always go at the bottom as this is where the category template will appear when reading the article. Write some more information here to create a standard used when categorizing articles on the wiki.
Needs Cleanup
When categorizing an article for needing a cleanup you should place the Cleanup template at the top of the article. This template will also automatically add the article to the Cleanup category.
{{Cleanup|(example cleanup template)}}
For articles that contain dead links you can use the dead link template.
{{dead link|(example)}}
For articles requiring some sort of fragmentation you can use these templates.
{{merge|example| (example)}}
{{move|example| (example)}}
{{split|example| (example)}}
Work In Progress
This template can be used to show that you are currently working on a page, and it may not be fully completed.
{{wip|(example)}}
Needs Deleted
When you see a page that you believe needs to be deleted, either because it is a duplicate page, outdated information, or against our rules, you may mark it for deletion. To do so, simply replace all the content of the page with the delete template. You should also provide a reason, {{delete|reason goes here}}.
{{delete|(example)}}
To see a list of recently closed articles, see Articles for deletion.
Constantly Changing
Articles that are changed quite often can use the volatile template. This can alert and make people aware that they should take information from the article with a grain of salt, or for instance be prepared to adapt to new changes in ENIGMA.
{{volatile}}
Message Boxes
Notices
The notice template can be used to display general information or just notify readers or editors of the article about certain details.
Important
When an article requires the Urgent attention of other editor's the alert template or warning can be used. A good example would be if someone vandalizes an article and you don't have the authority to revert the article, you can place the alert template to alert an administrator.
